Professor Janet Darbyshire

Professor Janet Darbyshire is the Joint Director of the UK Clinical Research Network with Professor Peter Selby.

Janet joined the Medical Research Council in 1974 to coordinate the clinical trials and epidemiological studies in tuberculosis in the UK and in Africa. She subsequently developed the MRC’s programme of clinical trials in HIV infection and since 1998, the MRC Clinical Trials Unit. She has also directed the Unit’s programme of trials in cancer and HIV infection, extending into other disease areas.

She is a member of many Trial Steering Committees, Data and Safety Monitoring Committees, and has worked closely with the community support groups in HIV infection and in cancer.
