Who is leading the development of NIHR CSP?

The UK Clinical Research Network Coordinating Centre is leading the development of NIHR CSP in collaboration with key partners such as the Department of Health, the UK Clinical Research Collaboration, the NHS R&D Forum, industry and researchers.

The Coordinating Centre has established several groups, which involve key stakeholders with a role in CSP, to ensure good governance during the development of the new system. Each group takes responsibility for delivery of specific elements of the project.

CSP Oversight Group
The Oversight Group is accountable for the success of the project and for ensuring that the project delivers the desired outcome. The Group approves all plans and authorises any major deviations from the Project Plan. It is the authority that signs off the completion of each stage as well as authorising the start of the next stage. It ensures that required resources are committed and arbitrates on any conflicts within the project or negotiates a solution to any problems between the project and external bodies.

CSP Systems and Processes Definition Group
The CSP Systems and Processes Definition Group is overseeing the development of a clear CSP process definition including the finalisation of Operating Guidelines and instructions for applicants to CSP. It is also monitoring the development of Information Systems to ensure that the CSP systems and the process definition have a good fit and intuitively work alongside each other. In addition, this Group is overseeing the CSP pilot studies; interpretation, findings and reporting.

CSP Communications Advisory Group
The CSP Communications Advisory Group provides advice and guidance to support the UKCRN Coordinating centre in developing and delivering communications activities which inform key stakeholder audiences about the implementation, roll out and operation of NIHR CSP.

The ultimate responsibility for delivering NIHR CSP rests with the UKCRN Coordinating Centre Executive Board.
