NIHR Clinical Research Network: Supporting Industry to Deliver Clinical Research within the NHS (4 June 2009)
The first Industry National Meeting was held at Central Hall, Westminster on 4 June 2009. The aim of the meeting was to provide operational staff from the Pharmaceutical, Biotechnology, Medical Industries and Contract Research Organisations with:
- The Industry perspective of the current environment for commercial clinical research
- An overview of the development of NIHR Clinical Research Network
- An outline of the benefits and opportunities of engaging with the Networks
- Investigators and Industry experiences of study delivery supported by NIHR CRN.
There were interactive workshops covering the following topics:
- Using the Coordinated System for gaining NHS Permission (CSP) and IRAS
- Use of the Industry Costing Template in NHS Trust negotiations
- The Comprehensive Clinical Research Network
- The impact of Paediatric Investigation Plans
- How the Networks can support the Medical Technology Industry
- Opportunities and facilities for collaborative and early phase research.
