This is an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic and motivated individual with expertise in clinical trial methodology and proposal writing to play a key role in a major UK clinical research initiative.
The Dementias and Neurodegenerative Diseases Research Network (DeNDRoN) was established as part of the UK Clinical Research Network (UKCRN) to facilitate the conduct clinical research. DeNDRoN is part of the National Institute for Health Research (NIHR) funded by the Department of Health to support the development of a portfolio of high quality research in dementias and neurodegenerative diseases and to establish a world-class NHS infrastructure to support this research. DeNDRoN aims to improve the quality, coordination and speed of research and expand participation for both patients and clinicians.
The Study Development Manager is a member of the senior management team at the DeNDRoN Coordinating Centre, which is run by a consortium of Newcastle University and University College London (UCL). Under the overall direction of the Assistant Director at UCL, the role of the Study Development Manager is to maximise the volume and value of research undertaken in the area of dementias and neurodegenerative diseases in order to meet the needs of people affected by these conditions and the research community.
Based at the Campus for Ageing and Vitality in the west of Newcastle, the Study Development Manager will be the key member of the Coordinating Centre management team responsible for promoting and facilitating communication between local and national initiatives, in order to optimise collaborative working across the UK research community.
Applicants should have experience of developing new clinical research proposals, detailed knowledge of the regulatory framework related to clinical trials in the UK, a track record in project management and knowledge of NHS and University research organisations.
