The Medicines for Children Research Network (MCRN) is part of the UK National Institute for Health Research, Clinical Research Network (NIHR CRN) which aims to improve the speed, quality, and integration of clinical research, through the successful delivery of clinical trials in the NHS. The MCRN will focus on clinical trials investigating medicines in 0-19 year olds, and its research studies will span many specialities and diseases.

London & South East Local Research Network (LRN) is a consortium which includes; Great Ormond Street Hospital NHS Trust, UCL Institute of Child Health, The Evelina Children’s Hospital, Guy’s and St Thomas NHS Trust, Bart’s and the London NHS Trust and the Centre for Paediatric Pharmacy Research based at the School of Pharmacy. Managerial and administrative support for the network will be based in the central office at Great Ormond Street Hospital NHS Trust in the Somers Clinical Research Facility.

We are seeking to recruit an enthusiastic and motivated Portfolio Manager for the central office to support the current LRN team in the management of the local LRN portfolio which currently manages over 90 studies.

The post holder must be educated to degree level or have equivalent experience. They must have experience of clinical research and/or NHS research administration coordination in a university or NHS setting. In addition to possessing excellent communication and IT skills, you should be able to work calmly under pressure. The ability to use your own initiative and prioritise workload in order to meet strict deadlines are also essential prerequisites of this role.

Clinical Trial Coordinator

The National Institute for Health Research (NIHR) Medicines for Children Research Network Clinical Trials Unit is seeking an enthusiastic individual to co-ordinate the SCIPI clinical trial. Funded by the NIHR HTA programme, this multi-centre project will recruit 316 children newly diagnosed with insulin dependent diabetes from hospitals across the UK, to compare two alternative methods of insulin administration.

You should be educated to degree level (or equivalent) with experience of Microsoft Office. Reliability, attention to detail, excellent organisational and communication skills are essential. The post, based at Alder Hey Children’s NHS Foundation Trust, is available for 1 year initially.

If you are a registered paediatric nurse (RSCN or RN (Child) or Allied Health Professional with paediatric experience and looking for a new and innovative challenge, then this is an exciting opportunity to become part of a dynamic team and develop your skills and knowledge in research.

The Trent Local Children’s Research Network facilitates and supports the conduct of paediatric clinical trials and other research studies across the region. Children’s Clinical Research Officers based in Nottingham, Sheffield, Derby, Leicester and Lincoln work closely with local clinical teams from a wide variety of paediatric clinical specialities at NHS Trusts including primary care. A unique opportunity has arisen to join the TLCRN as one of our Children’s Clinical Research Officer for the South Yorkshire area based at Sheffield Children's Hospital.

The post holder will assist in setting up, supporting and running new and existing paediatric clinical studies across the South Yorkshire region. This role will require an individual with excellent organisational and communication skills, effective time management and the ability to work with minimum supervision. The maintenance of accurate and comprehensive records is an essential aspect of this post. We provide a comprehensive training package and mentorship support to prepare you for the role and to ensure effective professional development.

This post is funded by the South Yorkshire Comprehensive Research Network. The post holder will be responsible for supporting NIHR MCRN portfolio clinical trials. The contract will be with Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust for 24 months from start of contract. Secondments will be considered but please get agreement from your line manager in the first instance.
