The Primary Care Research Network (PCRN) has as a central objective to develop the evidence base to inform the prevention, diagnosis, treatment and management of illness and disease in primary care through facilitating the conduct of randomised trials and other well-designed studies.
The Primary Care Research Network for the East Midlands and South Yorkshire (PCRN EMSY) has 3 Primary Care Research Coordinators (PCRC), each based within a local hub, hosted by an NHS organisation. The South Yorkshire PCRN will be employed by the Sheffield Care Trust and will cover Sheffield, Barnsley, Rotherham and Doncaster.
The post holder has three key areas of responsibility:
• lead, manage and facilitate the delivery of the PCRN EMSY research portfolio within their local hub
• support the development of the network
• develop network capacity within the hub to enable primary care practitioners of all professions to undertake PCRN research.
The post involves a high degree of clinical contact both off-site and in primary care premises and a high degree of autonomy. The post holder will be required to develop good working relationships with health care professionals and managers within the constituent PCTs in order to develop the network. In addition the post holder will be required to work closely with the network manager, the management and executive groups to develop an effective support team, acting as a hub lead and when necessary undertaking management responsibilities when required.
You will be educated to degree level or suitable professional equivalent, with at least 2 years experience working in a related field. Excellent communication skills are essential as is the ability to work independently and as part of the team.
This post offers opportunities for a motivated enthusiastic individual who wishes to extend their experience through a short term secondment of 9 months in the first instance with the possible extension of up to 1 year. Since the post will require travel throughout the hub and occasionally further afield you must hold a current driving licence
