CRC Cymru is a research and development infrastructure for Wales and represents the National Assembly's response to the establishment of the UK Clinical Research Collaboration (UKCRC).
CRC Cymru's mission is to provide an internationally competitive research infrastructure for health and social care to improve the health and wealth of the people of Wales.

The purpose of the Health Technology Assessment programme is to ensure that high quality research information on the costs, effectiveness and broader impact of health technologies is produced in the most effective way for those who use, manage and provide care in the NHS.

INVOLVE is a national advisory Group, funded by the National Institute for Health Research, which aims to promote and support active public involvement in NHS, public health and social care research.

NICE is an independent organisation responsible for providing national guidance on promoting good health and preventing and treating ill health.

The National Institute for Health Research was established as a part of the Government's strategy, 'Best Research for Best Health'. Its aim is to establish the NHS as an internationally recognised centre of research excellence through supporting outstanding individuals, working in world-class facilities, conducting leading-edge research focused on the needs of patients and the public.

The National Research Ethics Service (NRES) is part of the National Patient Safety Agency and provides help and leadership for Research Ethics Committees (RECs) and the REC system by coordinating the development of operational and infrastructure arrangements in support of their work.

The New and Emerging Applications of Technology (NEAT) programme has been commissioning research since 1999. The NEAT programme covers all areas of health and social care. It funds research that applies and develops recent advances in fundamental knowledge and technology or new products or innovative technological approaches to improve health and social care or for disease prevention and treatment.

The NHS R&D Forum is a network for those involved in planning and managing research in health and social care. Its aim is to improve the environment for research in health and social care by facilitating and encouraging sharing of best practice, and working with other organisations.

The Service Delivery and Organisation (SDO) Research and Development Programme aims to produce research evidence directed at improving the organisation and delivery of health services, and to promote the uptake and application of that evidence in policy and practice.

'People in Research' aims to help members of the public make contact with organisations that want to actively involve them in clinical research. The heart of the website is a searchable database of information about organisations or groups that sometimes look for members of the public to get actively involved in their work. It has been developed by the UK Clinical Research Collaboration, INVOLVE and others.

The UK Clinical Research Collaboration (UKCRC) is a partnership of organisations working to establish the UK as a world leader in clinical research, by harnessing the power of the NHS. Our aim is to re-engineer the environment in which clinical research is conducted in the UK, to benefit the public and patients by improving national health and increasing national wealth.
