Leicestershire, Northamptonshire and Rutland CLRN Launched
The Leicestershire, Northamptonshire and Rutland Comprehensive Local Research Network (CLRN) was officially launched on Thursday 1 May at an all day event in Leicester.
The launch was attended by representatives from all the member NHS Trusts in the area, along with representatives from NIHR Topic Specific and Primary Care Research Networks, local universities and other key research organisations.
As part of the day Andrew Riley, UKCRNs newly appointed Managing Director and former Chief Executive of Northampton General Hospital, gave a presentation focusing on the national perspective for CLRN development. A number of presentations followed which highlighted the research strengths within the region and demonstrated what had already been achieved.
The event not only outlined existing strengths in terms of current research activity but also offered examples of excellent partnership working in existing NIHR Networks. It also highlighted different past approaches in research and demonstrated real possibilities for enhancing research capacity.
