Research Management and Governance Information

The South London CLRN will provide high quality research management and governance (RM&G) support for NIHR CRN CC Portfolio studies. This support will include:

• Managing the new NIHR Coordinated System for gaining NHS Permission (CSP) for studies within the region;
• Providing advice on regulatory and governance requirements relating to research;
• Providing guidance in relation to the HR processes for researchers; and
• Facilitating swift and efficient research set up.

A range of changes have recently been introduced in relation to research management and governance (RM&G). The changes aim to simplify procedures, reduce the administrative burden on investigators and speed up the process of gaining permissions and approvals. The most significant changes are:

• A single point of application for permissions and approvals, via the new Integrated Research Application System (IRAS);
• A new process, the Coordinated System for gaining NHS Permission (CSP), for NHS R&D permission.
