Local Specialty Groups and Topic-specific Specialty Areas

Each CLRN has identified their “specialty areas”. CLRN specialty areas are identified as those research areas where CLRNs have the commitment, capability and capacity to support NIHR CRN Portfolio studies; in addition, to support growth CLRNs have also identified priorities within developmental areas.

For each specialty area, CLRNs have identified a local clinical lead for that topic. These local clinical leads will chair Local Specialty Groups whose remit is to provide a forum to bring together all researchers (clinical academics, university researchers, nurses, allied health professionals etc) interested in that topic from across the CLRN. Local Specialty Groups will provide a local focus for activity in that particular topic advising the CLRN on the topic aspects of the local portfolio of studies, including infrastructure requirements and oversight of the management and delivery of studies in that topic area.
