Each CLRN has identified their “priority areas”. CLRN priority areas are identified as those research areas where CLRNs have the commitment, capability and capacity to support Portfolio studies; in addition, to support growth CLRNs have also identified priorities within developmental areas.
For each priority area, CLRNs have identified a local clinical lead for that topic. These local clinical leads will chair Local Priority Groups whose remit is to provide a forum to bring together all researchers (clinical academics, university researchers, nurses, allied health professionals etc) interested in that topic from across the CLRN. Local Priority Groups will provide a local focus for activity in that particular topic advising the CLRN on the topic aspects of the local portfolio, including infrastructure requirements and oversight of the management and delivery of portfolio studies in that topic area.
West Anglia CLRN refers to its Local Priority Groups as Regional Research Priority Groups (RPGs).
In many cases the local lead is also the representative on the national Specialty Group, however, this is not always the case for West Anglia CLRN.
