3 January 2007
The first stage in implementing the Comprehensive Research Network (CRN) is to identify the geographical areas to be covered by each of the Comprehensive Local Research Networks (CLRNs).
The UKCRN Coordinating Centre has developed initial recommendations on the CLRN geographical areas and these were submitted to the Department of Health in November 2006.
In early December, the UKCRN Coordinating Centre wrote to all NHS organisations to consult on the configuration of the CLRNs. The geographies were also circulated to medical schools, UKCRC funders and existing Topic Specific Networks for comments.
