The UKCRN Coordinating Centre has written to all Chief Executives of NHS organisations to invite them to nominate representatives from their NHS organisation to become a member of the Comprehensive Local Research Network (CLRN) Board in their area.
Each CLRN Board will include representation from all the NHS organisations, and relevant higher education institutions, in the CLRN area. It is expected that the Network Board will take oversight of the activities of the CLRN and ensure that the interests and priorities of the constituent organisations are carefully considered and inform its activities.
Board Members will need a comprehensive knowledge of the Trust’s current research activity, strengths and scope for potential development as well as a sound understanding of its management processes. Board members will be expected to act as a source of communication between the CLRN Clinical Director and the Executive Group and their Trust, acting where necessary on behalf of the Clinical Director. They should also have a commitment to working in partnership with the primary, secondary and tertiary healthcare sectors for the success of the CLRN as a whole.
The first meeting of the Network Boards is planned for May.
The deadline for nominations from Chief Executives is Friday 30 March 2007.
