The UKCRN T&E Team is responsible for delivering a high quality national programme of training and workforce development initiatives, which is widely accessible and responsive to the needs of staff working across the UKCRN. A core function of the UKCRN T&E work stream is to encourage partnership working to develop a coherent approach to training and education in clinical research. UKCRN T&E team have set up effective working relations through collaborative work with key UKCRN stakeholders and partners.
A number of management structures have been implemented to enable significant progress to be made to facilitate the development of an expert workforce. A team based at the Coordinating Centre in Leeds has been assembled to drive forward and implement the aims of the UKCRN T&E work stream. UKCRN Joint Director, Janet Darbyshire, oversees the work stream.
The T&E structure involves representatives from the UKCRC, UKCRN, TCRNs and CCRNs.

The UKCRN T&E Advisory Group has been established to provide strategic advice, guidance and regulation, focusing on the development and sustainability of the UKCRN T&E programme. The composition of this strategic group emanates from key stakeholders and partners of the UKCRC. The membership of this group will be reviewed once the CLRNs are embedded as it will need to reflect the broader remit of UKCRN since the establishment of this group.

The UKCRN T&E Working Group was formed with the remit of an operational and delivery focus to enable the UKCRN to respond flexibly to the changing environment of clinical research. Currently the group is comprised of all TCRN T&E Leads along with UKCRN T&E Associate Director, PCRN representation, devolved nation representation, public and patient involvement representation, UKCRN T&E Manager and UKCRN T&E Lead. In the future this will include CCRN representation to ensure UKCRN manage and develop coherent, cost effective and equitable T&E services across the UK, whilst responding to new responsibilities of UKCRN.
